We started our search to find a new home by visiting several “custom builder” communities with model homes; no model had exactly what we wanted, most builders would not alter their plans to move or enlarge rooms or stairs, or even add an elevator. None would willingly change the footprint of the house. Then we used a realtor to look and buy an already built one: but each one we loved disappeared before we could write a contract. So we found a lot we liked and then looked at builders. After looking at four builders we decided to go with Battlefield Homes, Inc.
From the start, Allen and Bernie listened to our ideas of a dream house, and printed out plans so we could visualize it. To start, they combined and altered two of their plans to create exactly what we wanted, which included adding rooms and changes to the footprint. We tested Allen’s patience and skill as we made changes up until the foundation was poured. Bernie took us all over for selection decisions on fixtures, cabinets, granite, etc., and was very patient when we changed our minds, several times, on colors and flooring.
For months we came down to our lot almost every week to see how things were going. Mike and Wallace really helped us understand every step of the construction, and the contractors were patient as we walked around. When the house was finished, and closing done, Battlefield was still there to answer questions, like ‘how does this work?’ We would highly recommend Battlefield, and Allen, to anyone looking to build their dream home in the Fredericksburg area and surrounding counties. Great Job!
